Three representatives from HS-STAR staff participated in flagship course on “Health System Strengthening: Focus on Non Communicable Diseases” held in Barcelona, Spain, on November 21-25, 2011. This was a training course organized by the initiative of WHO European regional office supported by World Bank Institute and Health Policy Analysis center in Bishkek.
It was very comprehensive course on different NCD related issues: health policy, finance, service delivery, human recourses barriers and pharmaceutical policy.
The Course consolidated policy makers, health managers and programmatic people from 10 former soviet countries. WHO experts had very comprehensive presentations on all above mentioned NCD related topics. During very productive discussions participants had an opportunity to express their opinion on mentioned topics and share their country experiences. This was unique opportunity for colleagues from different countries to learn from each other. On the last day of the course the participants performed country presentations and Armenia presentation was mentioned among the best ones and at the result of voting won the third prize. HS-STAR staff returned with many fresh ideas and full of impressions from marvelous and hospitable Barcelona.
